Location | Contact Bal Seal to Drive "performance" Launch Message with Bmw Sport Bike at Otc
HOUSTON, TX - May 2, 2010 - In a bold move to rev up the launch of its new LKS Seal™ for high pressure/high velocity applications, Bal Seal Engineering, Inc. is bringing the newest, fastest BMW sport motorcycle to the 2010 Offshore Technology Conference.
Bal Seal, a Calif.-based provider of sealing solutions for the oilfield industry, will feature an “Acid Green Metallic” BMW S 1000 RR in its exhibit at Reliant Park this week. The company said it chose to make the cycle a central element in its OTC booth in order to illustrate the “premium quality and innovative design” of the new LKS High PV Seal product, which will be launched at the show.
"We're introducing a seal that provides up to 150% more service life in harsh oilfield applications," Bal Seal New Business Development Director Bill Nissim explained. "So we asked ourselves, what kind of visual would help us communicate 'ultimate performance?' When we learned about the S 1000 RR, it just clicked."
According to Nissim, the bike and his company's new seal have a great deal in common. Both embody innovative design, and both are engineered to perform at high speeds under the most demanding conditions, he said.
A multi-component seal consisting of a Canted-coil™ spring-energized, graphite reinforced PTFE seal jacket, a PEEK anti-extrusion element and a metal locking ring, the LKS is engineered to provide increased service life in pump systems, top drives, rotary steerables and LWD/MWD tools. According to the company, the LKS has been lab and field tested to outperform and outlast other more costly, less efficient seal types, and its combination of materials and design can help OEMs dramatically increase equipment uptime.
To successfully bring the ultra-fast sport bike to OTC, Bal Seal sought the support of Gulf Coast BMW, an established dealer with a location on College Avenue in Houston, TX. Dealership representative Jim Vagas said he was "intrigued" when he heard about the opportunity to participate in the Bal Seal exhibit.
"I think it’s smart," said Vagas. "The more I heard about the LKS seal, the more I realized that this would be an effective pairing. Making the BMW part of the booth really drives the performance message home."
The S 1000 RR, launched in May of 2009 at the famed Monza Race Track in Italy, is touted by its manufacturer as “one of the most potent, sophisticated and lightest sport bikes ever unleashed on the planet.” Weighing in at just over 400 pounds, it boasts 193 horsepower, and accelerates from 0-60 mph in under three seconds. It is currently considered the most powerful production 1000cc sport bike in the world.
The motorcycle - and Bal Seal's new LKS High PV Seal - will be on display in booth #4504 at OTC. The show runs Monday, May 3rd through Thursday, May 6th at the Reliant Center.
