Spring-energized Bal Seal(tm) in Medical Device

In this model of an insulin pump, a PTFE Bal seal is fitted to the pushrod that moves up through the dispensing cartridge. The seal, which prevents fluid from contacting the device motor, is "energized" by a unique canted-coil spring that enhances its performance and reliability. To prevent rotation, an o-ring is installed on the seal's outer diameter.
